At the bottom of logbook you will see 3 boxes while that red line is showing, if you hover your mouse over the boxes you will see the line turn dark red when you are over the SHIFT box. I have never seen our software show incorrect hours, for that you would have to get into a chat session with one of our techs to take a look, www.logbook.com click on the chat now button on the right side. Here is a link for the FMCSA about HOS Rules, I hope this helps, let me know if you have other questions. http://www.fmcsa.dot.gov/rules-regulations/administration/rulemakings/rule-programs/rule_making_details.aspx?ruleid=214

Why does it turn red?

I'll do my best to explain....I have been in my sleeper till 6 a.m. and go to off duty to 0730 hours and come on duty for my 15 min Pre Trip (this completes 12 hours of rest to restart my 11 hour driving or 14 hour on duty day). I drive to 0945 to my first destination and go to off duty until my appointment at 11am in which i go on duty to unload until 1145, at which i go driving for one hour to my load destination and it is now 1245. I go off duty until my appointment time from 1245 to 6:00 pm and strap down my concrete walls which takes 15 minutes (6:15) and drive until 8:30 and go on duty for 30 minutes to fuel. it is now 9:00 pm and i have the red line start at 9:30 and i have still leagally have 4 hours and 45 minutes to drive if i so choose, but this is telling me i do not? BTW...there was only 1.75 hours of on duty time and 5.75 of driving time...what is the deal with this?

This is not the first it has done this either, i just rarely have time to discuss this because the techs are not available when i get home on the weekends. Thank you for any advice you may offer.
